The Traveller
Gouache on watercolor board
1993
This was never actually used as an album cover. I made this as an experiment to shift the gears a bit into a different direction.
This is based on a sketch i did on a Greyhound bus heading west in the Rocky mountains. I flew back east to Toronto and started the painting there, then returned to the U.K and finished it in Nottingham.
I presented a copy to Roadrunner, but they declined. All of my album covers have been commissioned works, so it was no surprise. In retrospect, I would see this more on an experimental Jazz record, if anything.
