Skin Town

My title 'Skin Town' was the album cover for Usipian's 2004 release. 'Dead Corner of the Eye'.
In this painting, I was thinking about the old coal mining industry from around the area where I grew up. The giant elevator towers that drop the makeshift lifts down the shafts. And the kind of generic industrial architecture that comes from a place like that. In this case it’s sort of inverted. The people are like automatons, being delivered into their office towers, devoid of individual thought.
